About

Bill Offord – Australian Landscape Artist and Sculptor

With a remarkable career spanning more than 60 years, Bill Offord is an established Australian artist whose original oil paintings celebrate the character, atmosphere and emotional depth of the Australian landscape. Working from his workshop and gallery in Inglewood, he has dedicated decades to capturing country scenes that reflect both the quiet charm and bold spirit of rural life.

A contemporary Australian impressionist, Offord paints the landscape not merely as scenery, but as memory. Vast skies charged with weather, solitary figures shaped by labour, and cattle standing quietly against gathering storms become narrative elements within each work. His paintings hold presence — evoking resilience, solitude and a deep connection to country.

Working in richly layered oil, Offord employs an expressive impasto technique where paint is built, moved and carved with confidence. Each surface carries a physical depth, creating works that feel lived rather than simply observed. Some pieces are bold and dramatic; others hold a subtle whimsy or quiet intimacy, bringing warmth and atmosphere to both modern and rustic interiors.

In addition to painting, Bill Offord is an accomplished bronze sculptor, with works exhibited publicly throughout Australia and internationally. His long artistic journey is defined by craftsmanship, authenticity and lifelong devotion to his practice.

Bill’s sculptures can be found in prominent public spaces across the country. His works include the bronze sculpture of Steve Waugh and Richie Benaud at the Sydney Cricket Ground, celebrating two of Australia’s most iconic sporting figures. He is also the artist behind the much-loved Brolga Fountain at Darling Harbour, as well as the Echo Point Road Builders sculpture in Katoomba, among many other public commissions throughout Australia.

Working primarily in bronze, Bill’s sculptural practice is defined by craftsmanship, strength of form, and a deep respect for place, history, and character. Whether commemorating national sporting legends, honouring workers, or creating civic landmarks, his sculptures are designed to endure—both physically and culturally.

You may have walked past one of Bill Offord’s works, paused by it, or grown up with it as part of your local landscape. Together with his paintings, these public artworks reflect a lifetime devoted to storytelling, observation, and the quiet celebration of Australian life.

Offord produces a limited body of original oil paintings each year. His works are held in private collections and are available through direct representation. Enquiries regarding current works are welcomed.
